New York, NY - March 19, 2020 - When the 2020 Trans Am presented by Pirelli Championship season resumes, and naturally we all hope that that will be as soon as is safe and possible, we will be welcoming to the paddock some exciting new names, courtesy of the appropriately named SGT Class Competitor F.A.S.T. Auto Racing and their sponsors Forgeline Wheels and Hawk Performance.
F.A.S.T. Auto Racing are based in the Maspeth, Queens District of New York City where they run a high performance automotive shop aimed squarely at competition motorsports. For the 2020 season, F.A.S.T. are running a Ford Mustang in the Super GT Class, with team owner and principal Adrian Wlostowski doing the steering. Fully living up to their moniker, Adrian and the big apple crew were fast in official practice at the season opener at Sebring, where he recorded a time of 2:10:853. A podium third in the race itself was a fine result and there's no doubt that Adrian and the team will be among the pacesetters in the Super GT Class all year.
Talking to our correspondent this week, Adrian was understandably upbeat about the new Sponsors, the prospects for 2020 and the Championship challenge he and the team will be making, "We are excited to have Forgeline wheels and Hawk brakes onboard for our chase towards the SGT Championship. Will will be testing new wheels from Forgeline helping our Mustang reach minimum weight, which has been the most difficult task."
"We will also be testing different HAWK brake compounds to come up with the best possible bite, stopping power, and consistency. We are currently third in the national SGT points and our goal will be to focus more on qualifying as well as consistent top-three finishes all year long," Adrian added.
Forgeline wheels spokesman was also excited about the pairing, "We are very proud to be partnering with F.A.S.T. Auto and Adrian Wlostowski. We were very impressed with his Mustang in testing. F.A.S.T. understands the advantages of racing on Forgeline wheels. We will be working together to create a very strong lightweight wheel to compete for the Championship."
For their part, Hawk is also thrilled to be on board with a progressive team like F.A.S.T. and stated, "Adrian is so committed to continually exploring ways to improve, both in the garage and on the track, and that’s why he’s such a perfect match for Hawk Performance,” noted Hawk Performance Product Group Manager, Malcolm Sedano. "We’re excited to work with the entire F.A.S.T. Auto Team to analyze the braking compounds and solutions that are the best match, and then have them push those brake pads and rotors to their absolute limits to shave time. It’s the testing opportunities that come with collaborations like this that provide Hawk with the real-world benchmarks needed for our own continued improvement, not only in on-track performance, but for tow and chase fleets, too.”
We all hope it isn't too long before we get the chance to see the results of these exciting collaborations.
